Musings of a seasoned traveller on The Way
TRUTH - Subjective or Absolute ?
This blog is simply copy of a letter submitted to the Daily Mail yesterday (Sunday) having read an item in their Saturday newspaper bearing the following heading : - Is No.10 preparing for the Archbishop of Canterbury to resign ?
‘I write to make complaint against the language used in this statement in Saturday's Daily Mail against a man of God, which I believe the Archbishop of Canterbury most certainly is. The Christian faith is first and foremost a personal relationship with Our Lord and it is personal choice for each and every one of us when we are of an age to understand it - nobody is forced into it, - and I think the Daily Mail would be well advised to stick to reporting on matters which it fully understands and leave this extremely difficult matter of God's church in His hands through prayer. This is a subject for Absolute Truth. . My own sympathies are wholeheartedly with Dr Rowan Williams whose position is being made untenable through conflict within his own deeply held beliefs and a church tied to an unbelieving State which is forcing total inclusiveness to the point of standing for nothing at all beyond human selfishness. . All who truly believe are 'called' into ministry of one kind or another as we walk The Way. We don't need all the pomp, the ceremony, the dressing up, attractive and stirring as they may be and much as we all may enjoy them, and we don't need the hypocrisy. We need the Gospels, the Holy Spirit and men of courage to listen and to obey and take their place in society as it should be through example at the top which is Jesus Christ,. . God hates gossip, and much which is called journalism is nothing more. . It may interest you to consider that although women have made up a large percentage of C of E churchgoers down the years, a very large percentage of those who have a deeply held abhorrence concerning women in priesthood are actually women, not misogynistic men. As a woman I am also deeply sympathetic concerning the position of H M the Queen, who to a great extent is at the mercy and whim of the Government of the day, but I also believe that in David Cameron we have the right Prime Minister for our time. May God give him all the strength he is going to need. .
Come, Lord Jesus, come ! ‘
