Back to The Way - Day 192
Bah! Humbug! And so starts my Christmas speech ...
It's a time of mixed emotions. Warm family companionship for some, the agony of loniliness for others. Everything is magnified and intensified on this one day of the year and, personally, I wish it wasn't. Did God intend this to be the only actual Shabbat the Church was going to celebrate - a day cut off from others, with no work, no shopping. On the other hand, do we set aside this day actually to worship God, or is it simply a day of overindulgence of one's appetites and senses?
Roll on normality. I must confess that I enjoy the food, the games, the gifts and the slumping down in front of the TV, but none of it is real or important.
As for the birth of Jesus ... just lost beneath all the layers.
May you all be greatly blessed today, whatever your circumstances, however you spend today. Let us all find just some time to think of others, pray for those who are not as blessed as we are.
It's all a bit rambling, but there you are ...

Ba Humbug
Steve, I like your prescription for this date in history and will apply to Easter as well. Of late, your site and other things read are encouraging realization that when we take away all the theology: Christian and Messianic are interchangeable terms, one new man is what we are thanks to the completed work of Yeshua for each of us sinners!!
There is 1800 years of church history and trappings to overcome if we can all get on the same page. Honestly, I don't foresee theologies changing, such as, a subtle proclamation of Christmas being the birth of Yeshua, January 6 being when the wise men arrive, and further on, I do not see the church giving recognition to those who observe the other Levitical feasts even as an honorable mention. That hurts this particular believer who has a profound interest in Jewish roots. Sigh..
I would that it were different or my perception is
in error. Am ever filled with grattitude for sites like yours and wish you profound blessing for today and 2010. Thanks.....
David
