Back to The Way - Day 108

Succot, the Feast of Tabernacles, tonight, where we are reminded of the awesome grace of God that sustains us, regardless of anything we do, just as He sustained our forefathers in the wilderness as they wandered around.

I believe this is the most relevant of all the Biblical festivals, in the context of our ministry to both Gentiles and Jews. The Gentiles are very much a feature of Tabernacles. That’s why, at the time of Jesus, 70 Bulls were sacrificed during the festival. It was thought in ancient times – from Genesis 10 – that there were 70 Nations of the World. 70 Bulls for 70 Nations. The Talmud teaches that the seventy bulls that were offered in the Holy Temple served as atonement for the seventy nations of the world. Tabernacles, it was said, was mandated by the Creator Himself to be a holiday for all the world.
So Tabernacles is for us all. Just as the Gospel is for us all – both Jew and Gentile.

Speaking over the weekend at a conference held by Reshet Ministries - first time for me, I'm not by nature a conference chap, prefer the half light rather than the limelight. But needs must, I did make a decision to venture out a bit since the latest book came out, so I hope so see lots of friendly faces over there in Conference land.

Feast of Tabernacles

Steve, if Jew or Gentile wish to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles that is their decision. Please give me your Bible reference for your statement .

For me, personally, every day of Life is a celebration of the birth of Our Lord and Saviour, the only Son of our Creator God, who is both Father and Son, and Good Shepherd, and I daily meet with other sheep in the most unexpected and wondrously gentle ways as with a brief exchange we recognise one another, the Holy Spirit always leading. On One occasion it was an off-duty policeman who, as I walked along the sea shore, singing quietly to myself 'My Jesus, I love thee'. was sitting on a bench - it transpired in conversation that he had been sitting there reading his Bible which he held in his hand. We talked for an hour which was a great blessing to each of us. If you feel a need to go to 'Conference Land' that clearly is part of your personal journey , but I have to question why do folk think it necessary to travel here, there and everywhere, searching, always searching - the travel time wasted and the waste of the resources of this world, is ridiculous when we have so clearly been given the answer. We have to ask, how much of it all, is really of God and how much longer will His patience last ?

Tabernacles

"Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, they will have no rain. If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The LORD [d] will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. "

Zechariah 14:16-19 (still in the future)

If this feast has been forgotten because Christians currently think it irrelevant then they are heading for big trouble.

Tabernacles....

Not at all wanting to take away from remembering the roots of our faith in Yeshua through the celbratio of key Jewish festivals but how does this all fit in with what is written in Colossians 2:13- 16 (esp verse 16)

13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

Not meaning to antagonistic or offensive, but inquisitive....
Are festivals in part a salvation issue or to be regarded as a geat blessing an deppening of our faith should people choose to get involved.....?

TABERNACLES

The Festivals have nothing to do with salvation.
The Festivels are Yahweh's Appointed times which He has invited us to celebrate with Him.
They are also "rehearsals" of the Marriage Supper with the Bridegroom Yeshua.

As regard Colossians 2:13-16....we must ask ourselves who is the letter written to? They were Gentile believers who were being challenged by non-believers about keeping God's Appointed times and Feasts, instead of the pagan celebrations they used to keep. The new believers were being judged by non believers for keeping what Yahweh has told us to keep.

I hope this clarifies the meaning of the Scripture.

As I think I understand it,

As I think I understand it, Ezekiel 46 (amongst other chapters from Ezekiel) also implies that the Sabbaths and feasts will be re-instated in the restored temple (also future).

All the feasts are directly relevant to all Christians from a prophetic and literal perspective - although I am not quite sure how Gentile Christians should observe them.

Tabernacles

Then I am one who is heading for big trouble. May God continue to show his mercy upon me as a truly born again Christian, for He has brought me safely home and I rest in Him. .
