The Rose

Shalom Mispochah,

It is a new day for the Saltshakers website.
Many of you will return to the Saltshakers for information and inspiration.
Many of you will discover this website for the first time. I know you will be blessed by it.

For a number of years I contributed to this website with my monthly prayer letters for Israel.
Some of those prayer letters were compiled into a book, An Intercessor's Tribute to Israel.

Though my stand for Israel has never changed, my life did. I went through a difficult divorce.
Now I have found love again and moving on with my life. After darkness comes light. I not only walk in the Light of the Lord, but found true love at my age. God is indeed faithful and true. I stand to testify to this.

I would like to give a brief background about myself.
I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. At the age of 19, I moved to the US. I converted to Judaism and got married to a Jewish American.
Five years later we were divorced. A few years later committed my life to Messiah Yeshua.

I chose to name my blog "The Rose".
I find the symbolism in a rose unique. It speaks to me on many levels.
The rose speaks to me on a personal level, and I also see the rose relating to Israel and Yeshua HaMachiach.
The rose is fragrant yet subtle. Strong, yet gentle. Unique in beauty, yet humble. The thorns along its stem speaks of trials and suffering. Yet these thorns point upward, toward the fragrant rose petals. The rose starts with a bud, and gradually opens up in the light in time, for everyone to behold.
It needs living water to grow and survive. It needs TLC, tender loving care.

The Lord keeps Israel in the palm of his hand, gently watching its beauty and strength. He has a plan for her, and watch over her, the "apple of His eye".

I would embrace your comments, questions and suggested topics on Israel.

Many blessings in Yeshua's love,

Siv Idestrom

The Rose

Hiya - trust you are well. I will send on a picture I took of a Rose and hope it gets to you. I love that on every level, everything points to Yeshua - as you say, the thorns pointing upwards - to the Rose of Sharon!

I went to Jerusalem as a teenager, and have always prayed for peace there, since. I love to read about Yeshua's presence and prophecies - in the OT - and to know that He was, and is and is to come again.

I think that Abba is very clever - with His Word, too!! I don't know about every language - but I looked up rose, just. There were four verses - I Am the Rose of Sharon (Song 2:1), the first, - and the last one mentioned in my concordance - ...that Jesus died and rose... (1 Thess 4.14)Ah, that He went through that for me, and you, and all our Brothers and Sisters. And so that he can raise us up too. Wow.

The greatest gift I ever had was a Children's Bible - I'd read it every night, then one night, my Mum wanted to take it away - she thought I was getting hooked!! I was - praise His Holy Name!! If I'm hooked on the Rose, the rest of my life this side of Heaven, and into the next adventure, beyond, then good - being hooked on Yeshua has been the best thing to ever happen to me - in England we have 'David Austin' roses - in the United Kingdom of the Lord, we have King David's Rose - blooming brilliant, eh!!
David Austin sells roses 'bare root' or in containers - well, it's good to know that our roots are deep and well watered and fed - whether we're part of the original or grafted in!! I'm so glad that Yeshua just can't be contained.

May the fragrence of your prayers of thanks go before you, Rose, and may you continue to be a blessing, in boldness and love. Shalom Shalom, Stargazer. xx

Shabbat shalom

Shalom Stargazer!

Thank you for the photo of the beautiful rose. Indeed it carries a lot of symbolism to it.

I hope that delicate nature of a rose will translate to a tenderness in the hearts of believers to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Blessings in Yeshua,

Siv

I enjoyed your introductory blog here and have followed the salt shakers web site in its apparent dormant state, since becoming interested in Hebrew roots about 3 years ago. It has not been an easy journey, but have the support of my wife of nearly 13 years, and daily mercy and strength from Yeshua. I am fed up with the denominational church, and have yet to find others in my area who share a similar perspective. A month ago at a friend's urging, I too started a blog, graftedinandonthejourney.blogspot.com. Meantime, will be back and hope to read more of your ventures from then to now. Biographies are of interest to me as they reveal the true fiber of people. Thanks.

Shalom David

Shalom David,

Thank you for your response to my first blog.
I would be glad to share more about my journey in life, being ingrafted at an early age to Israel. Litte did I know then that the LORD had a plan and a destiny for me, I guess my path can be likened to that of Ruth. Her testimony lines up very much like mine.

God is faithful.

Blessings in Yeshua,

Siv

Thank you for telling your story. Is there any possibilty of you sharing your prayer letters for Israel with 'newbies' like me? Perhaps on this site once again? I would love to know how to effectively pray for Israel.
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
and security within your citadels."
Psalm 122:6-7
Pease be with you.

Re: Praying for Israel

Shalom Gordon,

I just added a prayer letter I wrote for the Saltshakers a couple of years ago on praying for Israel/

I hope it is a start, and inspires you to pray for Israel. Always base your prayers for Israel on God's promises for Israel and the Jewish people. Then go from there as the Holy Spirit leads you.

Blessings in Yeshua,

Siv
