‘Are there Palestinians who are Christians?’
This week I received an email from a Christian lady in America asking this question. She admitted that the idea of there being any Palestinians who are Christians had never occurred to her. So this article is a response to that question ... yes, there are Palestinians living in the West Bank (which includes Bethlehem, even though it’s only five miles down the road from Jerusalem) who are ‘evangelical’ Christians. They are a tiny minority living within a majority Muslim culture ... life for them is challenging.

Meeting Belay Birlie in Jerusalem recently was, I believe, a divine appointment. A few years ago I witnessed firsthand the plight of the Ethiopian Jewish people when I visited an absorption centre in the south of Israel. These people had arrived in Israel from Africa with nothing, and despite being Jewish, found it very hard to assimilate into what is essentially a European/Western culture. And so poverty and high levels of unemployment amongst this group of people was and still is widespread, especially amongst the older population.

Jews and Arabs worshipping God together, reconciled as brothers understanding they are equally loved by God. How can this be?
